Waaraan dienen de werken te voldoen om in een bepaalde sectie te kunnen deelnemen? De inrichter biedt op zijn website geen Nederlandstalige omschrijving van de secties aan. We nemen hier dan ook de Engelstalige versie integraal over. Leden die minder vlot Engels lezen, verwijzen we naar de Nederlandstalige omschrijvingen van de vroegere secties in de wedstrijd 'WEST DIGITAAL'. Deze komen grotendeels overeen met de secties van 'THE GOLDEN SPURS'.

Nature photography depicts living, untamed animals and uncultivated plants in a natural habitat, geology and the wide diversity of natural phenomena, from insects to icebergs. Photographs of animals which are domesticated, caged or under any form of restraint, as well as photographs of cultivated plants are ineligible. Minimal evidence of humans is acceptable for nature subjects, such as barn owls or storks, adapting to an environment modified by humans, or natural forces, like hurricanes or tidal waves, reclaiming it. The original image must have been taken by the photographer, whatever photographic medium is used. Any manipulation or modification to the original image is limited to minor retouching of blemishes and must not alter the content of the original scene. After satisfying the above requirements, every effort should be made to use the highest level of artistic skill in all nature photographs. |

Photojournalism entries shall consist of images with informative content and emotional impact, including human interest, documentary, sports and spot news. The storytelling value of the image shall receive priority over pictorial quality. In the interest of credibility, PJ images must not misrepresent the truth. No situations shall be set up for the purpose of photography, and no alteration of the subject matter is allowed, including any techniques that add, combine, relocate, replace or remove any elements of the original image. No unnatural sharpening or special effect filters can be applied. Only cropping, resizing, lightening or darkening, and restoration of original color are permitted. | PT | Travel | Subject matter must portray photo travel and a photo travel (colour) slide must express the feeling of a time and place, portray a land, its people, or a culture in its natural state, and has no geographical limitations. Ultra close-ups which lose their identity, studio-type model shots, or photographic manipulations which misrepresent the true situation or alter the content of the image are unacceptable in Photo Travel competition. |
